Site Information: Redford

Site 556-8 44 36' 05" N – 73 51' 24" W
This site, located in the town of Redford, was an Atlas Missile silo from its construction in 1961 until its deactivation in 1965. It was one of 12 Atlas F silos constructed in a ring around Plattsburgh Air Force Base, at a cost of around $3 million each. During construction, two fatal accidents occurred. The first victim was John R. McCann, killed on November 8, 1960. The second was Carroll L. Ellis, who died on November 15, 1961 after falling inside the elevator shaft. This site is now in private ownership, and is reported as up for sale according to the website www.missilebases.com, with an asking price of $2.3 million. This site boasts an FAA approved runway, with further development possibilities available.
