Site 556-1 45 00' 05" N – 73 28' 18" W
This site, located in the town of Champlain and a few hundred yards from the Canadian border, was an Atlas Missile silo from its construction in 1961 until its deactivation in 1965. It was one of 12 Atlas F silos constructed in a ring around Plattsburgh Air Force Base, at a cost of around $3 million each. This site is now in private ownership and is under development. It was sold at auction on eBay for $180,000 in August of 2005.
